WHATiF 88 is a group consisting of experienced Wharton alumni with a focus on social impact, corporate governance, due diligence, and advisory services.
Our company is majority-owned by women and minorities. Our current partners are located in Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, New Brunswick and Princeton, NJ. Established in 2017.
Domestically, we are working with urban and rural stakeholders to revitalize their communities. This revitalization includes financial inclusion, innovation, fortifying infrastructure, economic development, and environmental preservation.
Internationally, we are assisting DFIs, private investors, and governments with their impact investments, including corporate governance, due diligence, and mentoring and management development of senior executives.
Dr. Dale G. Caldwell is the Director of the Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Prior to this position he was the CEO of Strategic Influence, LLC, a management consulting firm providing strategy, operations, training and executive coaching services to public, private and nonprofit organizations around the world. Dr. Caldwell is the author of Intelligent Influence: The 4 Steps of Highly Successful Individuals and Organizations which provided the theoretical framework for his consulting practice.
He began his career at Deloitte Consulting and has served as the Executive Director of the Newark Alliance and the Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
Dr. Caldwell received a Doctorate in Education Administration from Seton Hall University, an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University.
Jennifer Demetrius has more than twenty five years of experience in accounting, finance, program management and operations. Currently she is focused on post-merger integration at Resources Global Professionals (RGP) a high-value consulting firm. Jennifer has worked in many global organizations with her financial, managerial and operational reach crossing many boundaries. Prior to joining RGP, Jennifer held Division CFO roles for AT&T, HP and Siemens Corporation. She has consistently grown revenue and delivered cost cutting strategies to maximize profitability.
Jennifer serves as Executive Director for Legacy Consortium and is on the Board of Directors for the Jamaica Ambassador Programs both non-profit organizations. She is a former CPA and holds an Accounting Degree from Pace University and an MBA from The Wharton School.
Serge Devieux has more than thirty years of principal investments across Emerging Markets. He recently retired from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, as a Client Service Leader for large financial Institutions in Africa. Over the past 20 years, he has lived and worked in Washington, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Hong Kong, New Delhi, and Singapore.
Prior to his last position at the IFC, Serge managed over $3.6 billion of global private equity funds for the IFC. Since he joined IFC in 2000, he led investments in Latin America and Asia, comprising more than 40 equity transactions with a value of $1.4 billion. He also led government and client relations for the Andean Region and South Asia. Prior to joining IFC, he spent twelve years at the head of various financial institutions in Haiti, notably CEO of Unibank, Haiti’s leading bank.
Serge holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto-Rico, a MS in Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and an MBA from The Wharton School, Class of 88.

Steve Marks has been engaged in financial services for more than 35 years in management positions with leading investment banks and asset managers. He is part of Klitzberg Associates, Inc. and Klitzberg Fund Solutions, LLC, which are specialty firms raising capital for boutiques in alternatives and traditional asset management.
Prior to joining Klitzberg, Steve held executive positions at Prudential Financial, Eaton Vance Corp., Keystone Investments (now part of Wells Fargo), Paine Webber (now part of UBS), and Merrill Lynch. Prior to business school, he worked for Nomura Securities in New York, Tokyo, and London.
Steve is active in social impact initiatives focused on sustainable economic development in urban communities undergoing transition.
Steve studied in Japan at Kansai Gaidai University and speaks Japanese. He received his B.A. with honors from Brown University and his MBA in finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee.
